Mindful By Design: An AIA Phoenix Metro EDIB Wellness Event
About this Event
All are welcome to join AIA Phoenix Metro’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) Committee for a reflective experience that encourages participants to engage more intentionally with the built environment and consider how spatial qualities influence emotional and psychological wellbeing.
The session, led by Victor J. Irizarry, Assoc. AIA, will incorporate structured observation, mindfulness-based reflection, and creative exercises such as journaling and sketching. Participants will be prompted to analyze and respond to environmental conditions including lighting, materiality, acoustics, scale, color, openness, and movement, with the goal of increasing awareness of how these elements affect mood and behavior.
**Please note that this is NOT a drawing class but we will be using drawing as a thinking and relaxing tool. Bring your own sketch pad and pens.
Thursday, August 20 from 5:00PM to 6:30PM.
South Mountain Community Library | 7050 S. 24th St., Phoenix
