Learn about the fascinating history of Manchester’s Millyard, developed by the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company from 1831 to 1936. At one time the largest textile operation in the world, Amoskeag had an enormous impact on the life and economy of Manchester and New Hampshire.
The walking tour will examine the impact of the Millyard and it’s decline and rebirth following the bankruptcy of Amoskeag. The tour will also look at the Merrimack River and the Amoskeag Falls and focus on the history of individual mill buildings.
COST: $10 Manchester Historic Association members – $20 General Public
Please note, this tour involves walking on uneven terrain, and may not be suitable for individuals with mobility issues.
