Every spring, the Museum hosts Millfest – a family event celebrating the history of the Old Mill and the pioneer heritage of the region. Millfest is held on the first Saturday in May and features guided tours of the Old Mill with all four floors of the historic mill in operation.The 1898 Smoky Valley Roller Mills is the only historic flour mill facility of its kind in the Midwest with fully working machinery, and Millfest is the one time of year to see it!
Professional millers run the mill (as a dry run), and tours are available for visitors age 13 and older ($10 per person). At end of day, families with ages 12 & younger can take a free tour after machines turned off.
Other attractions are fun for the whole family; including a traditional arts and crafts fair with more than a dozen vendors, a handmade quilt show, live musical entertainment, demonstrations, games, and great food. New events from last year that are returning for 2026 are an antique tractor show on Mill Street and FREE artistic face painting in the afternoon.
