In honor of the 25th anniversary Ohio River Paddlefest on August 1, 2025, event organizer Adventure Crew is excited to launch the Ohio River Queen Competition!
We'd love for you to get involved in the fun -- either as a contestant or a spectator!
The road to river royalty begins with our tributary princess competitions, which will be held in different venues throughout the month of July. Entrants can sign up to compete to be the Tributary Princess for each of the following Ohio River tributaries:
Great Miami/Whitewater Rivers
Licking River
Little Miami River
Mill Creek
The winning "princess" from each tributary will advance to compete in the 2026 Ohio River Queen competition at the Outdoors for All Expo on the evening of Friday, July 31. Each princess will also receive a free entry into Ohio River Paddlefest on Saturday, August 1 and will help lead the flotilla with the rest of the Ohio River court.
Requirements to compete for Tributary Princess:
-- Must be available to come to the Expo and Paddlefest
-- All genders welcome
-- Ages 21+
The Tributary Princess competition will include three sections, each of which will be given equal weight:
-- Costume: A costume that represents the waterway in some way
-- Ode to the tributary -- An original creation that is inspired by and evokes the spirit of the tributary. The ode can be in any medium (song, dance, poem, painting -- whatever you choose!) and will be judged based on creativity and quality. Contestants have up to 3 minutes to perform or explain their ode.
-- Trivia: Trivia questions about the specific tributary you're competing to represent.
