ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Sangamithra Iyer is the winner of the Firecracker Award in Creative Nonfiction for her first book, GOVERNING BODIES: A MEMOIR, A CONFLUENCE , A WATERSHED (Milkweed Editions), a lyrical reckoning of the ways bodies (human, animal, and water) are controlled and liberated. She is an engineer, environmental planner, and writer who holds a B.E. in Civil Engineering from The Cooper Union, an M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering from UC Berkeley, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Hunter College. She was also awarded a Whiting Creative Nonfiction Grant and a Diamonstein-Spielvogel Fellowship at the New York Public Library. She is the founder of The Literary Animal Project and lives in Queens, NY.
Nigar Alam's debut novel, Under the Tamarind Tree, was longlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. Nigar was born in Pakistan and spent her childhood in Turkey, Nigeria, Italy, Kenya, Indonesia and the United States. She has worked in both brand management and auditing, and currently teaches and lives in Minnesota with her family.
Sruthi Narayanan is an Associate Lecturer of English at the University of Minnesota. Her work has appeared in Mississippi Review, Copper Nickel, Nimrod International Journal, and The Offing. Sruthi is a Kundiman fellow and has received support from the Anderson Center at Tower View, the AWP Intro Journals Project, the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing, and elsewhere.
