Military & Veteran Legal Services Clinic

Complicated legal issues, limited access to affordable legal services, delayed responses to legal matters, and a lack of connectivity to legal service providers often result in veteran needs going unmet. Unresolved legal matters have a spiraling effect on veterans and may have long term impact causing additional transition challenges.

The Warrior Alliance and our coalition of Legal Service Provider partners are collaborating to host a pro bono Veteran Legal Services Clinic at the Military Influencer Conference.

The coalition of legal service providers participating in the clinic include Atlanta Legal Aid, Georgia Legal Services Program, Emory Law Volunteer Clinic for Veterans, University of Georgia School of Law, John Marshall Law School, Atlanta-area law firms, corporate attorneys, military JAG officers, paralegals, and private attorneys.

Paralegals will be involved in pre-screening, processing of intake forms, and obtaining legal documentation. Volunteer attorneys will provide free 30-minute consultation sessions for Veterans in the following legal matters:

• Civil Law
• VA Benefits
• Military Discharge
• Family law
• Consumer
• Bankruptcy/Debt Collection
• Real estate property
• Landlord /Tenant
• Wills and estates

Veterans must register for an initial screening with a paralegal volunteer before the event. The veteran may be scheduled for a 30-minute free consultation with an attorney based on the screening. The veteran is required to sign TWA’s legal waiver forms prior to meeting with an attorney. In addition, veterans seeking Wills and Estates assistance must complete a form prepared by Emory Law before the event.
