Sokféleképpen lehet tisztelegni a száz éve született Miles Davis emléke előtt, de kevesen mondhatják el magukról, hogy testközelből élték át a Miles-varázst, és a játszótársaként kaptak tőle örök érvényű útravalót. A 2010-ben létrejött Miles Electric Bandet az Emmy- és Grammy-díjas producer és dobos, Vince Wilburn Jr., Miles unokaöccse hívta életre azzal a céllal, hogy megidézze Davis 1980-as évekbeli, elektronikus korszakának zenéjét, sőt tovább gondolja azt. Az elmúlt években a világ legnevesebb koncerttermeiben és fesztiváljain léptek fel. A centenáriumi turnén az egykori társak közül a zenekarvezető Wilburnhöz csatlakozik többek közt Darryl Jones basszusgitáros, Robert Irving III billentyűs, Munyungo Jackson és Mino Cinelu ütőhangszeresek, illetve kiemelt szerephez jut Keyon Harold trombitás.//
There are many ways to pay tribute to the memory of Miles Davis, who was born 100 years ago, but few people beyond his bandmates can say they experienced the Miles magic up close, and received timeless guidance from the master of jazz. The Miles Electric Band, formed in 2010, was brought to life by Emmy- and Grammy-winning producer and drummer Vince Wilburn Jr., Miles’s nephew, with the aim of evoking the music of Davis’s 1980s electronic era, and taking it even further. In recent years, they have performed at the world’s most prestigious concert halls and festivals. On the centenary tour, several former collaborators join band leader Wilburn, including bassist Darryl Jones, keyboardist Robert Irving III, along with percussionists Munyungo Jackson and Mino Cinelu, with trumpeter Keyon Harrold also playing a prominent role.
