Ez az este nem pusztán megemlékezés, hanem élő tisztelgés egy olyan alkotó előtt, aki örökre átírta a zenei gondolkodás határait. A koncerten elhangzanak Miles Davis ikonikus darabjai, valamint olyan saját kompozíciók is, amelyek szellemiségükben, hangzásukban vagy kísérletező attitűdjükben kötődnek hozzá. Barabás Lőrinc és Erik Truffaz pályája sok ponton találkozik Miles örökségével: a jazzből induló, de azt folyamatosan pop-, groove- és experimentális elemekkel tágító trombitás zenekari gondolkodással.

Miles Davis bár trombitásként vált legendává, valójában nem hangszerével, hanem gondolkodásmódjával írta be magát a zenetörténetbe, mert a megújulás, a keresés és a kísérletezés nagymestere volt. Nyughatatlan alkotó, aki újra és újra képes volt felforgatni a zenei világot, és generációk számára vált inspirációvá. A Barabás Lőrinc Quartet legutóbbi albuma, az Open a ’70-es évek jazz-rock univerzumát idézi meg – azt a korszakot, amely Miles Davis olyan lemezein teljesedett ki, mint a Bitches Brew, a Live-Evil vagy az In A Silent Way. Ez az este groove-os, kísérletező, világgá táguló zenei utazás, ahol múlt és jelen, tisztelet és személyes hang egyszerre van jelen – Miles Davis szellemében.

Erik Truffaz (CH)
Erik Truffaz a kortárs európai jazz egyik legsajátosabb hangú trombitása, aki pályája kezdetétől fogva műfaji határok nélkül gondolkodik. Zenéjében természetesen fér meg egymás mellett a jazz, az elektronika, a rock, a drum’n’bass vagy épp a világzenei hatás. A Blue Note kiadónál megjelent albumai (The Dawn, Bending New Corners) korszakos jelentőségűek, kvartettje pedig az elmúlt három évtized egyik legizgalmasabb, folyamatosan megújuló formációja. Truffaz zenéje egyszerre kísérletező és érzelmes – mindig a jelenben létező, nyitott gondolkodású alkotás.

Barabás Lőrinc Quartet
Barabás Lőrinc trombitás és producer a budapesti improvizatív zenei színtér meghatározó alakja. Zenekara, a Barabás Lőrinc Quartet a jazz és az instrumentális pop határmezsgyéjén mozog, erős elektronikus, világzenei és klasszikus zenei hatásokkal. Az együttes eddig két albumot jelentetett meg (Beardance, Other Than Unusual), legutóbbi munkáik pedig egyre markánsabban reflektálnak a jazz-rock hagyományaira. Barabás nemzetközi szinten is aktív alkotó: fellépett többek között a Montreux Jazz Festivalon, az iTunes Festivalon Londonban, és olyan előadókkal dolgozott együtt, mint Bonobo, Thievery Corporation vagy épp Erik Truffaz.

Although Miles Davis became a legend as a trumpeter, he truly wrote himself into music history through his way of thinking rather than his instrument. He was a master of renewal, exploration, and experimentation—a restless creator who repeatedly turned the musical world upside down and became an inspiration for generations. The Barabás Lőrinc Quartet’s latest album, Open, evokes the jazz-rock universe of the 1970s, the era that reached its full expression on Miles Davis albums such as Bitches Brew, Live-Evil, and In A Silent Way. This evening promises a groove-driven, experimental musical journey that opens up into something expansive and timeless, where past and present, homage and personal voice coexist—in the spirit of Miles Davis.
Erik Truffaz (CH)
Erik Truffaz is one of the most distinctive trumpet voices in contemporary European jazz, an artist who has thought beyond genre boundaries from the very beginning of his career. In his music, jazz naturally coexists with electronics, rock, drum’n’bass, and world-music influences. His albums released on the Blue Note label (The Dawn, Bending New Corners) are considered milestones, and his quartet has been one of the most exciting and constantly evolving formations of the past three decades. Truffaz’s music is both experimental and deeply emotional—always present-tense, open-minded, and searching.

Barabás Lőrinc Quartet
Trumpeter and producer Barabás Lőrinc is a key figure in Budapest’s improvisational music scene. His band, the Barabás Lőrinc Quartet, operates on the border between jazz and instrumental pop, with strong electronic, world-music, and classical influences.
