Join us for a conversation with "one of the great documenters of Americana" Henry Horenstein to celebrate his book, a collection of nearly 100 photographs taken all over the state of Texas (The Guardian, UK). He will be in conversation with Nashville-born, New York-based country music artist Laura Cantrell, followed by a signing.

Miles and Miles of Texas features a collection of nearly 100 photographs that Henry has taken all over the state, mostly between 2021-2024. Texas has been a continual source of inspiration for Henry, and these pictures reflect the people, places, music, and culture that make Texas so unique.

Henry studied history at the University of Chicago and earned his BFA and MFA at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he studied with legends Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind.
Henry's work is collected and exhibited internationally and he has published over 40 books, including several monographs of his own work such as Honky Tonk, Histories, Show, Animalia, Speedway1972 , Racing Days, Close Relations, and many others. He has also authored Black & White Photography, Digital Photography, and Beyond Basic Photography, used by hundreds of thousands of college, university, high-school, and art school students as their introduction to photography. His Shoot What You Love serves both as a memoir and a personal history of photography over the past 50 years.
In recent years, Henry has been making films: Preacher, Murray, Spoke, Partners, and Blitto Underground. He is currently in production on Marksville, LA, a film about Cajun Louisiana.
Henry is professor of photography at RISD and lives in Boston.
Laura Cantrell is a Nashville-born, New York-based country music artist. Since her critically acclaimed debut in 2000, Not The Tremblin’ Kind, Cantrell’s music has been celebrated in The New York Times, O Magazine, Elle, and the Wall Street Journal for its unique take on country music, informed by her love of its history, particularly that of its women artists, summed up in her album Kitty Wells Dresses: Songs of the Queen of Country Music. Cantrell has been featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and “Weekend Edition,” and Bob Dylan's "Theme Time Radio Hour," ane has performed on “Mountain Stage,” the “Grand Ole Opry,” and “A Prairie Home Companion,” and appeared on the BBC's "Andrew Marr Show," “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” and Sundance Channel’s “Spectacle: Elvis Costello.” Her most recent release, 2023's Just Like A Rose: The Anniversary Sessions celebrates her twenty-year plus career as a standard bearer of Americana music. Cantrell is also the host of "Dark Horse Radio," a weekly show about George Harrison on SiriusXM's The Beatles Channel.
