At Sanctuary House, we believe in breaking barriers, challenging stigmas, and fostering understanding and support for individuals experiencing mental health symptoms. Our Mile of Pennies campaign, historically held in May – which is Mental Health Awareness Month – sparks conversations, raises awareness, andhonors the resilience of those seeking mental health wellness.
Why pennies? Many are unaware that Abraham Lincoln experienced symptoms of Depression. Despite his battle, Lincoln persevered, refusing to let his mental health define him. In honoring Lincoln's legacy, we will lay down a mile of pennies. The goal is to shed light on the silent struggles of millions, emphasizing that mental illness does not diminish one's worth or potential.
Sanctuary House's Mile of Pennies campaign is a call to action. By laying down 84,480 pennies, we symbolically pave the way for open dialogue and acceptance for those seeking whole-person wellness.
