Join long time Alaskan pickers family style! Mike & Matt Faubion will unleash some Apres Ski country, bluegrass, blues, and rock for you at the Afterglow Pub in the Alpenglow Lodge!You might expect father and son to be compatible musicians, and that’s certainly the case with these two. Father Mike’s own improvisational approach to flat-picking folk, country and blues has been evolving for more than 50 years. And Matt’s been exposed to it since he was in the womb.
Matt’s musical journey has taken him through just about every phase of the history of American music, from “Comin Round the Mountain” on ukulele in grade school through Elvis, the Beatles, folk, bluegrass, punk rock, indie rock, jazz and circling back to country. And he’s pretty much mastered every genre he’s explored. Matt’s always had two or three bands going at the same time since fourth grade. Currently he plays guitar with the Roland Roberts Band, Childish Tycoon, and Power Play. Plus his own group, the Matt Faubion Trio.
Michael currently plays with his own Honky-Tonk band the Roadhouse Refugees as well as single and duo stints in cafes around Anchorage.
Together, Mike & Matt jam their way through their own original tunes plus a bunch of old family favorites when they can get the chance to gig between each other’s busy performance schedule.
