Two years since the release of her pivotal sophomore album, 2023’s And Southern Star, Mikaela Davis returns in full ethereality with her new single “11:11” via K*ll Rock Stars. The track drifts in with the unhurried grace of a dream, carried by cascading harp, drop-tuned guitars and Mikaela Davis’ luminous voice. Never forcing itself, but simply arriving like a signal waiting to be seen. As the shimmering verses give way to the hazy jag of fuzz-tone guitars in the chorus, she creates a space swirling with mystique and elegiac wonder while “make a wish and light the candle” becomes an incantation, a sonic ritual. Part fantasy, part memory, part myth, “11:11” feels both timeless and immediate. A singular, beautiful mirage where sound and emotion bleed into one.
Written by Davis along with collaborator John Lee Shannon and recorded by Dan Horne at UHF Studio in Glendale, California, “11:11” dawns a new era for the harpist and singer-songwriter with more music on the horizon.
