MIGUEL SISO in Berlin

Cuatro player, composer, producer, and Latin Grammy winner. Miguel Siso is one of the foremost exponents of the Venezuelan cuatro and a key figure in the new wave of Venezuelan instrumental music. His versatility has enabled him to fuse the Venezuelan cuatro with genres such as jazz, classical music, flamenco, hip-hop, and traditional rhythms from diverse cultures.

Over the course of his career, Siso has participated as a musician and music producer in more than 50 music projects and has released three solo albums dedicated to showcasing the versatility of the Venezuelan cuatro. Identidad, his second solo album, was released in 2018 and garnered him widespread recognition. The Recording Academy honored him with the Latin Grammy for Best Instrumental Album as both Artist and Producer. Additionally, he received accolades at the Pepsi Music Awards, winning four categories: Jazz Artist of the Year, Best World Music Song with Kerepakupai Vená, Best Jazz Video, and Best Jazz Song with Tiempo de Cambio.

In 2018, Siso relocated to Dublin, Ireland, where he recorded his third album, Itinerante. This project featured a host of guest artists, many of whom are Venezuelan musicians living abroad as part of the Venezuelan diaspora. During his time in Ireland, he was recognized by the Venezuelan Community Ireland and received an official invitation from the President of Ireland, who honored his contributions as a Venezuelan artist.

Currently residing in Madrid, Spain, Siso continues to build his career as a soloist and music producer. In January 2024, he produced Impronta, an album by flutist Omar Acosta, which earned a nomination for the Latin Grammy for Best Instrumental Album.
