Join us for our Migratory Bird Rescue & Transport class, a free, hands-on classroom session tailored for new volunteers and permitted rescuers. This class will equip you with the skills and knowledge to identify common bird species and safely rescue them in emergency situations, ensuring they quickly receive the care they need.
Topics Covered:
Avian Anatomy – Gain a foundational understanding of bird physiology to improve rescue efforts.
"Bird Braining" – Understand how birds think and move to anticipate their behaviors.
Rescue Equipment & PPE – Get familiar with essential gear for safe handling.
Rescue Techniques – Master safe and effective methods to transport birds to care.
Common Illnesses and Injuries – Learn to spot signs of distress, injury, and illness.
Common Local Species – Recognize and identify birds commonly found in our area.

This event is open to the public and counts as Continuing Education for state rehabilitation permits, meeting requirements set by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources.
