Chicago singers are pleased to invite you to the 37th Annual Midwest Convention to be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 25 & 26! You are all welcome to join us!We will sing 9:30 am – 3:00 pm both days, and we will be singing from the 1991 Sacred Harp and the Shenandoah Harmony. Local singers will host dinner on the grounds both days. We are still exploring options for a Saturday night social.
LOCATIONS:
Saturday, May 25
• By popular request, we will be singing at Kilbourn Park, 3501 N Kilbourn, Chicago.
• Free street parking.
Sunday, May 26
• We are singing at a new venue – Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago, 7574 Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
• The venue is conveniently located 0.4 miles from the Oakton-Skokie stop on the CTA Yellow Line (Skokie Swift). Connect from the red or purple lines at the Howard stop. Follow signs to Oakton Street, then head south on Skokie Blvd to Howard Street. Turn right on Howard, and go one block to Lincoln Ave.
• Plenty of free parking is available.
COVID PROTOCOLS (With a nod to MN singers!)
Covid infection rates may be down, but singing is not a risk-free activity, especially for people with compromised immune systems. This is our plan, to allow you to evaluate your personal risk and choose whether to participate:
• Use of face-masks will be optional.
• Proof of vaccination will not be required.
• Same-day Covid testing before the event each day is encouraged but not required.
• We will allow a couple of extra feet between chairs in the rows.
• We will open windows and doors according to what is available at the venue and depending on the weather.
As always, if you are not feeling well or have been exposed to a communicable illness, or if you have been in crowded public events in the five days before the singing, please stay home and take care of yourself so that you can come sing with us another day.
