The Nevada Public Library is pleased to announce its 2023 Midwest Author Series. The library will be hosting a variety of authors from various genres at the library from April to October. Please join us in person to meet these authors, learn about their books and writing, and promote lifelong learning and reading in Nevada. Authors will be available for a question and answer period after their presentation. REGISTRATION REQUIRED.Joseph Geha is a professor-emeritus at Iowa State University and his novel "Through and Through: Toledo Stories" is one of the first books of modern Arab-American fiction. He has been published in Esquire and the New York Times. Geha was awarded a fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts, won a Pushcart Prize in fiction, and his work was chosen for the Permanent Collection of the Arab-American Collection in the Smithsonian. His newest book, "Kitchen Arabic," is a blend of memoir and cookbook celebrating his Lebanese heritage.
Fern Kupfer, a former creative writing professor at Iowa State University, has published several novels and memoirs as well as contributions to the Ames Tribune and Newsday. Her first book, "Before and After Zachariah," originally published in 1982, reflected on her family's decision to institutionalize her disabled child. Kupfer's most recent book, "Leaving Long Island and Other Departures," was published in 2012 and is a memoir that chronicles her divorce, the discovery that she carries the BRCA gene, and raising a blended family.
