This year's Midsummer Bridge Walk is taking place on St John’s day 24th June (Gŵyl Ifan Ganol Haf), coming a few days after solstice and traditionally celebrated as a midsummer festival throughout Europe.Join Gwent Storyteller Christine Watkins with the Newport Transporter Bridge Team for an evening 'Midsummer Sunset Walk' of stories and tales.
We'll be starting in Christchurch, making our way through Beechwood Park and down to our Newport Transporter Bridge, where we will have special access to the construction site of our brand-new Visitor Centre! Here we'll meet the team from John Perkins Construction to don high-vis and hard-hats to watch the sun setting over Twmbarlwm...
This is a fantastic opportunity to glimpse behind-the-scenes of our major modern construction plus views of the vital restoration works to the Transporter Bridge itself - whilst enjoying the ancient spectacle of a Midsummer sundown over an iron-age construction!
