Step into the warm late-night atmosphere of Midnight Moods, where the lights are low, the grooves are deep, and the music melts straight into your soul.
Falling on Mother’s Day weekend, shortly after Women's Day, in this edition we’re honouring something deeper: the women who pioneered blues, shaped its sound, and laid the foundations for so much of the music we dance to today.
From the earliest roots of blues and rhythm & blues, strong, expressive Black women carried this music into the world. This night celebrates that legacy.

We kick off the night with a relaxed Blues Taster Session led by Isabelle & Pete, the perfect way to meet people, settle into the groove, and tune into the shared rhythm of the room.
We’ll break things down simply:
- how blues music works
- how to move comfortably with it
- how to enjoy social dancing across different styles of blues.
No pressure. Just connection, groove, and feeling good in your body.
Isabelle joins us from the Oxford blues & swing scene, bringing many years of experience dancing, teaching, and DJing both locally and at festivals around the world.
Expect warmth, clarity, and a deep connection to the music.

A curated hour celebrating pioneering women of blues — music rich with depth, history, and soul.
🎧 9:00 – 10:00pm | Women in Blues DJ Set — DJ Funkee Animal
Continuing the tribute, DJ Funkee Animal honours early blues pioneers alongside influential female artists who shaped the later rhythm & blues era.
🎧 10:00pm – Midnight | Social Dancing — DJ Funkee Animal
From there the night unfolds into a classic Midnight Moods late-night mix of blues, jump blues, R&B grooves, and swing classics. Curated to keep you moving till late.
The vibe is intimate, immersive, and unforced — a friendly space to explore the music, connect, and let it carry you.
