Greetings to all members of the Midlands Coin Club,On Thursday we will be hosting an in-person meeting at Columbia International University located in the William Jones building (first building on right) 7435 Monticello Drive, Columbia, SC 29203 at 7:00 PM. The room is very large and provides for adequate social distancing. There will be a short business meeting and an educational program (if available), show and tell, appraisals and auction if folks bring items.
Educational program this month will be:
Ancient Art illustrating Greek and Roman Myths
Featuring a collection of ancient Greek coins
The ancient Greeks had powerful stories about their heroes and gods that we are still telling today. We call these stories myths, but to the Greeks they were real, and greatly influenced every aspect of their culture, and art. Come hear the stories of some of the most beloved myths and see how they used their art in paintings, sculptures, and especially coinage to illustrate these myths.
