About this Event
Summer should be about having FUN. More than ever, kids need to try new things, explore, learn in the real world, and meet and interact with friends. Middle School Academic Skills classes do just that. Students will directly interact with their peers and teachers with a focus on real life learning. Small group instruction will be provided in a 1:6 teacher-to-student, facilitated by experienced K-8 certified teachers.
This group will meet weekly to engage young adolescents in a social learning process. Content covered will include classes within the following curriculum areas: STEAM, literature via a socially interactive book club that promotes high-level discourse, math problem solving, and academic organizational skills. Classes will encourage intellectual risk-taking, social discourse, and student independence in the educational process.
On Tuesday, July 13, your child entering sixth, seventh or eighth grade in fall, 2021, will embark on a scientific inquiry. Using the Next Generation Science Standards as a framework, students will explore and discuss original phenomena and pose investigable questions, theories, and hypotheses.
Because we are able to admit a limited number of students, you will be charged a deposit of $25 upon registration. Your deposit will be refunded less credit card processing fees upon attendance or notification of inability to attend sent to [email protected] or 203.291.4815 by 2 pm on Tuesday, July 6.
For those unable to come to the library for class, there is an option to log in from home. Please select from your ticket options carefully.
The Middle School Academic Skills classes are made possible by the continuing generosity of Roz and Bud Siegel.
