This is an intermediate broom-making class. Students are strongly encouraged to have completed the introduction class from the morning session, or previously offered- as these skills build on those covered in the intro/cobwebber broom workshop.Building on the skills from the introduction to broom making workshop, students will make a bulkier broom that can be used for sweeping the floor. Students will become more comfortable working with a larger project, and learn how to stitch a broom flat, like a traditional shaker style broom. Students are invited to bring their own stick/handle for this floor sweeper- otherwise a variety of choices will be offered.
In this workshop we will continue to build upon skills already learned in the basic weaving techniques used to make a broom, with natural broomcorn (sorghum). Some experience required for this project. Everyone will go home with one completed mid-size broom.
Class is a 2.5 to 3 hour workshop. All materials are provided.
Recommended age 12+
Price: $75 includes all materials and instruction + booking fee per attendee.
This class has a minimum attendance of 4 in order to hold class; If the minimum attendance is not reached, you will be refunded your class fee or given a studio credit. Notifictions will be made 24 hours ahead.
