About this Event

Join the Mid-Michigan Spartans for this unique opportunity to go behind-the-scenes of MSU's new $75M state-of-the art Dairy Cattle Teaching and Research Center. This center will serve as the national model for sustainable dairy production, hands-on-learning, and cutting-edge research.

On this tour you will see the upgraded milking parlor, explore the barns, learn about the technology utilized to track production quality & cattle health, hear from farm personnel on the methods to manage nutrition, reproduction, and milk capture, and get a close-up look of the center's 680 residents.

Where: MSU Dairy Cattle Teaching & Research Center | 4075 College Rd, Lansing, MI 48910

The center is a working farm. The barn is clean by barn standards, but participants will encounter smells, visual evidence of waste, mud, and other realities associated with a cattle facility. Participants are asked to wear closed-toe shoes. All will be required to wear plastic booties that cover shoes and calves. They will be provided at the site. Attendees should dress for the weather. Children are allowed to attend, but must be accompanied by an attentive adult.

Given the time of the experience, lite refreshments will be available for attendees.

Attendees with accommodation needs are asked to notifiy organizers ahead of the experience so we can ensure a positive experience.
