“Phases by Nikki and Matt Swift” continues … following a festive December 7th Holiday Hop Opening Reception, regular gallery hours, and by appointment visits through December 18. Now, SCG is offering January “Gallery Hop” Event Hours on Saturday January 4, 4-8pm coupled with a “Meet the Artists Reception” from 6-9pm. The Event is Free and Open to the General Public, includes Light Snacks and Beverages.
Regular Open Gallery Hours and By Appointment Visits featuring “Phases” resume on Thursday January 2, 3:30-5:30pm following our Winter Holiday Break [Closed for business December 19, 2024 thru January 1, 2025].

The message is familiar, yet it is from president Harrison or Kennedy, Hoover or Roosevelt. Rinse and repeat again and again. All the while the corporations create manifestos of growth and profit. Eliciting the notion that those who do not learn from the past are bound to repeat it.

ARTISTS STATEMENT
As individual artists and a collaborative team, in December of 2024, Columbus-based Nikki and Matt Swift celebrate 25 years exploring audio visual technology to craft meaning out of the past, present and possible future that they encounter. Phases brings together their individual works with one focusing on the past we have not yet learned from and keep repeating and the other projecting a future outcome that seems to loom in the distance. Featuring new video loops, Nikki explores the cycles of America’s leadership through broadcast communications juxtaposed against a collage of landscapes that have been crafted in way that have negated human connection with each other, while Matt meditates on a fever dream of the endless cycle of our planet fighting against us to recover from our consumer-based aggressions. Phases, a distinct period of time for development and change, the cycles of the celestial bodies, to carry out over many years, and to adjust especially to synchronize.
Convenient parking is available at the Hubbard Garage on E Hubbard Ave behind Salon Lofts across N High St from our gallery. We are located in the basement business level of the historic Greystone Court Apartments building, 815 N High, Columbus OH in the heart of the Short North Arts District.
