Next week at @turramurra kindergarten, we will celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional festival celebrated in China and some Asian Country. This festival provides a wonderful opportunity for our children to explore and appreciate diverse cultures, heritage and tradition and that diversity presents opportunities for choices and new understandings, fostering a sense of global citizenship for the future.
To celebrate, we have planned some engaging activities for the children:
1. Mooncake Making
Mooncakes are a traditional treat associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival, symbolizing good luck, togetherness, and happiness. The children will have the chance to make their own mooncakes, using ingredients such as flour, rice flour, eggs, oils, milk and red bean paste.
(Warm Reminder: Please let us know if you do not want your child/children attend before the activity dates. The Mooncake Making sessions will take place on Monday, October 16, 2024, and Thursday, October 19, 2024.)
2. Lantern making
The lantern is a traditional symbol of the Mid-Autumn Festival, representing brightness and joy. For children, crafting lanterns provides a wonderful opportunity to unleash their creativity and imagination. This activity not only encourages artistic expression but also helps develop their motor skills.

We look forward to celebrating this festival with your children and supporting them learn about different cultures.
