Course Description
This course is designed to cover all the features and aspects of Microsoft Project Online Administration. Attendance on the Introductory Project Professional course is a desirable pre-requisite. Knowledge of Office 365 Administration would be an advantage but is not essential.
Administrators should also have access to Microsoft Project Desktop Client and ensure that this is installed on the PC/laptop that will be used for training. Training is delivered virtually and sessions will be recorded and made available to delegates after the training. All delegates will be issued with certificates of attendance that will be mailed out to them on successful completion of the course.
The course fee is £795 plus VAT per delegate.
Who Should Attend
Users who will be responsible for managing, maintaining and updating the Microsoft Project Online system, resources and user information. Typically, these may be individuals from IT or from operational areas of the business.

- Understand the different areas of the PWA Home page and menu links.
- Understand how to add new users, authentication types, and logins.
- Understand how to set up e-mail notifications for users and their teams.
- Demonstrate how to save Microsoft Project plans to Project Online and understand the key differences between Draft and Published plans.
- Understand how users can view, edit, and update projects & tasks assignments in the browser.
- Understand the Approval Center, and the approval processes as well as how to reject, create, and delegate task assignments.
- Understand how to link documents, issues, risks and documents to projects and control access.
- Understand how to create project sites, and create new folders.
- Understand how to set automated alerts on tasks and deadlines.
- Understand version control in the project sites.
- Understand how to create custom fields, field types, lookup tables and use formulas.
- Show how to view projects in the Project Center & how to create and maintain custom views.

- Show how to view resources in the Resource Center & how to create custom views.
- Demonstrate how to view resource and assignment data related to one or more projects (including Resource assignment and Capacity Planning views).

- Understand Calendars and how to create them. View and update calendar changes.
- View and update task changes to a Microsoft Project plans and the update process.
- Set up rules to automatically update projects.
- Understand Check In/Check Out of Project plans, resources and objects.
- Understand Permissions modes and which mode is appropriate.
- Understand Categories/Groups/ Permissions & Security Templates and how to use these to configure the system.
- Understand how data is stored in Project Online and in Project Sites (based on SharePoint).
- Understand options for adding 3rd party apps (free or paid).
- Understand the best scenario for management of updates and changes and control of updates to the production environment.
- Understand why a formal release management process is important and how to adopt and manage the process.
- Understand backup options.
- Get an overview of integration options and scenarios.

- Understand the different Administration role options.
- Understand the communication and messaging process.
- Understand the Task Views, Time Periods, Fiscal Periods and options.
- Describe the provisioning process for creating project sites (publishing).
- Understand how to view and upload documents for projects.

- Understand the different user types and the how they interact with Microsoft Project Online and the functionality of each, as well as how to modify permissions.
- Understand the responsibilities of a Microsoft Project Online Administrator and adopt best practices.
- Discuss the various views available, their purpose and how to create custom views.
- Understand the integration of SharePoint from the Microsoft administration perspective.
- Understand Reporting and Business Intelligence capabilities in Project Online (including PowerBI)
- Understand the concepts behind reporting from Project Online (oData feeds).
- Understand exporting data from Project Online to Excel.
- Managing the Enterprise Global File and significance for Project Online users.
