Micropubs: The New Local - Pop Up Screening at The Little Green Dragon

ABOUT THE EVENT

For one night only, we're very excited to host a very special pop-up screening just before Christmas of our award-winning documentary MICROPUBS: THE NEW LOCAL at the equally award-winning micropub, THE LITTLE GREEN DRAGON in Winchmore Hill, Enfield.

Richard Reeve is one of the core characters in our documentary and started his love of micropubs when he completed a charity bike ride across the UK and visited all 100 micropubs open at the time in 2015 to raise money for Alzheimer's UK.

Following this special bike ride, Richard decided the time was right to open his own micropub in Winchmore Hill, The Little Green Dragon - a nod to the local legacy of the 300-year-old Green Dragon Pub that was closed and brought out by property developers.

2022 also marks the fifth anniversary of The Little Green Dragon so it feels like a perfect time to celebrate our film's journey, the community that supports him and all of Richard's achievements from conception to opening and everything beyond, especially after a challenging few years with the pandemic and ongoing high costs of living and business.

Following the pop-up screening at The Little Green Dragon, there will be a Q&A with Richard and the filmmakers and hear more about how the film was made and what has changed within the industry, since filming ended. You can then enjoy the rest of the evening at the micropub when it opens at 5 pm.

Due to the size of the venue, this special event will take place before the micropub opens to the public and is therefore a ticket-only event with limited spaces available.

ABOUT THE MICROPUB VENUE

The Little Green Dragon Ale House in Winchmore Hill is Enfield’s first “micropub” and provides somewhere the local community can meet each other for a drink and a chat.

No background music, TV, slot machines and a focus on the quality and diversity of real ales, sourced from local microbreweries and other independent brewers.

Following on from their recent film festival run that includes 2 nominations for BEST DOCUMENTARY at Wales International Short Film Festival and Romford Film Festival, the team are currently touring their AWARD WINNING FILM* regionally at a selected number of MICRO venues including independent cinemas, community spaces and pop-up events.

The 2022 Micro Cinema Tour includes event screenings across the UK in Herne Bay, Greenwich, Ealing, Chichester, Gosport, Southport, Shrewsbury and Enfield alongside film festival appearances in Cynon Valley Wales, Tennessee, Los Angeles, New York, and Pompeii.

Alongside interviews from notable experts such as micropub creator Martyn Hillier, brewer & broadcaster Jaega Wise and Save The Pubs campaigner J. Mark Dodds, our film follows three entrepreneurial Londoners inspired by the Kentish micropub craze who decide to open their very own micropubs to revitalise their local high streets through a love of craft beer, natural conversation and community spirit.
