About this Event
Dr. Lee's talk is a primer on the plastic crisis. She will show why plastics are a large part of climate change, and discuss how we got to be so dependent on plastics in our world. We will see where we use it, and what happens to it after we have finished it. She will review what we are rapidly learning about the human health effects of plastics, that are now found all over our body. At the end she will go over some common sense approaches to how we can reduce our individual exposures, and how to get involved to help reduce production.
- Dr Bridget Lee is an emergency physician living and working in Boston. Outside of her clinical work she is focused on sustainability in medicine and is helping to start a sustainability team at her institution. Through this work she has learned about the toxicity of plastic and is now on the speakers bureaus of two different organizations, P-SNAP and Beyond Plastics. Through these she is working to educate the world about the dangers of plastic and why we need to dramatically reduce our demand for plastic.
