About this Event
No prior lab experience needed.
This session kicks off our Introduction to Biohacking series. Micropipetting is a core skill across nearly every area of wet lab biology, so what you build here will carry into the rest of the series and any lab work you take on afterward.
We'll start with a quick rundown of the different micropipettes you'll encounter in a wet lab (P10, P200, P1000), and walk you through how each one works: setting the volume, the two-stop plunger mechanism, proper aspirating and dispensing technique, and the small habits that separate sloppy pipetting from clean, reproducible results.
Then you'll put it into practice. We'll hand you a 96-well plate and a set of colored solutions and challenge you to pipette specific volumes into the right wells to produce a set of target colors. It's a low-stakes, visual way to build real technique. If your green looks a little too yellow, you'll know exactly where to tighten up.
By the end of the hour, you'll be comfortable picking up a micropipette in any lab and ready to take on what comes next in the Introduction to Biohacking series. Everyone who completes the session walks away with a certificate of completion.
