Michigan Agriculture College - 1855 to 1925

Dr. Keith Widder literally wrote the book on the founding and early years of what would become Michigan State University, Michigan Agricultural College: the evolution of a land-grant philosophy, 1855-1925. The Mid-Michigan Spartans are delighted to offer local alumni the opportunity to hear his recounting of the events and individuals that played significant roles in the early history of our institution.

Cowles House, MSU's oldest surviving structure, is the perfect venue to host this engaging discussion with Dr. Widder. Participants will enjoy a casual reception of refreshments and lite fare while exploring the public areas of the house's first floor and garden. Remarks will begin at approximately 6:15 p.m. and conclude at 7 p.m. Guests will receive a copy of Dr. Widder's book.

Space for this experience is limited and expected to fill quickly. If you find the event is full, please add your name to the waitlist. The Mid-Michigan Spartans will use the list in the event of cancellations and to measure interest in this type of programming from our club.

If you do register for the experience and find you are no longer able to attend, please submit a cancellation at your earliest opportunity so waitlisted registrants can be considered.

There is no cost to attend this experience. As with all Mid-Michigan Spartans' events, those interested in making a donation to the operations of our club are welcome to do so via the additional ticket option listed with this event. All contributions are appreciated and used to fund the general expenses of our programming.

Parking will be available in the slanted parking spaces adjacent to Cowles House on W. Circle Drive.
