The Michael Festival (or “Michaelmas”) is celebrated in Steiner schools as the “festival of strong will”.
This Primary School Festival will begin with Class 5 performing the traditional play of St George and the Dragon at 9.40am, when St George (Michael) slays the dragon and emerges triumphant.
The key element of the Michael Festival is to celebrate inner strength and courage. After the play, and led by their Class 6 “captains”, the children will participate in games, in a spirit of fun and festivity. The games will run on the back oval from 09.50am - 1.00pm.
The primary impulse of this festival is to encourage children to develop the courage and strength necessary to face their own challenges – their internal and external “dragons”.
Parents are warmly invited to attend the festival and we hope to see you there.
WCSSCA are looking for donations of Anzac biscuits - please leave in the Staff Room on the morning of the festival with an ingredient list. One hour of FCH is claimable per batch of biscuits. If you can help on the day with serving etc let WCSSCA know. [email protected] or chat with Ayla at the Hub.
