P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Michael Kimmel to celebrate and discuss his new book, ; the untold story of the first-generation Jewish American toymakers who literally manufactured “the century of the child.”
Michael will be joined in conversation by Jonathan Alexandratos author of . Along with a discussion and audience Q&A, Michael will also sign copies of his book.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
The great–grandnephew of the founder of the Ideal Toy Corporation, Michael Kimmel is a SUNY distinguished professor emeritus of sociology and gender studies and founder of the Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities at Stony Brook University. The author of Guyland, he lives in Brooklyn, New York.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR
Joonathan Alexandratos (they/them) is a non-binary storyteller based in New York City, whose work typically lives at the intersection of pop culture, queerness, and catharsis. They created the first edited collection devoted entirely to scholarly work around action figures, Articulating the Action Figure: Essays on the Toys and Their Messages, and Free with Every Kids' Meal: The Cultural Impact of Fast Food Toys, both out now from McFarland.

- Doors open at 6:30pm, with the talk starting around 7:00pm.
- Books will be available for purchase at the event.
