Michael Hurley, folk legend, is bringing his whimsical, outsider tunes with Ac Sapphire’s cosmic Americana sounds.
Michael Hurley is a cult hero known for his playful, surreal brand of folk music, blending wit, joy, and thoughtful melodies. With a lo-fi charm and a DIY spirit, his early albums like Hi-Fi Snock Uptown and Snockgrass became touchstones in the folk scene. Hurley’s distinctive style has made him an influential figure, especially to the later freak-folk movement. His music, often recorded at home, stays true to folk traditions while feeling uniquely personal. Over the years, he’s collaborated with bands like the Holy Modal Rounders and indie rock group Ida, and at 80, he’s still recording heartfelt, soulful tunes like 2021's The Time of the Foxgloves.
Portland artist Ac Sapphire returns with Dec. 32nd, a powerful new album showcasing her talent as a guitarist and vocalist. Known for her cosmic take on Americana, Sapphire’s music draws from her southwestern roots, blending folk rock with emotional, heartfelt songwriting. A winner of Relix Sonic Showdown and the 2022 NewSong Music competition, she’s shared stages with Son Little and Sunny War, and been featured on a Shirley Manson track.
With Dec. 32nd, Sapphire channels the spirit of Laurel Canyon, blending desert-inspired sounds with raw, soulful harmonies.
