ABOUT:
Every character work begins with movement.
The Psychological Gesture enables actors to move beyond psychological analysis and discover a direct physical path into the character's inner life. By engaging the body, imagination and will, actors clarify objectives, reveal the essential qualities that define a role and awaken emotions.
The Psychological Gesture is probably the most famous tool of Michael Chekhov's acting technique. It is a psycho-physical movement that awakens the actor's inner life.
Throughout this intensive four-day workshop, participants will explore how movement generates character, relationships and dramatic action. Practical exercises will gradually lead from archetypal movement to individual character creation and scene work.
The workshop combines movement training, imagination work and scene study, providing actors with practical tools that can be applied both on stage and in front of the camera.
During the workshop you will explore:
- Psychological Gesture
- Gestures & Qualities — the ‘What’ and the ‘How’
- Character Objectives
- Archetypes and Characterization
- Relationships between characters
- Imagination through Movement
- Scene Study
WHO IS IT FOR?
The workshop is open to professional actors, acting students, performers, directors and all interested in Michael Chekhov's acting technique.

Daily work from 10:00 to 17:00
(with a one hour break between 13:00 – 14:00)
