Miami Fall AUXPAD Training (FAT)

Fall AUXPAD Training (FAT) will be held at Oleta River State Park near North Miami Beach, Florida. Rental Sit on Top (SOT) Kayaks are available at Oleta River State Park.

The cost for rental is $235 for the entire event. Contact Chuck Hayes prior to the event to arrange payment prior to the event.

All participants will be better prepared to carry out the Coast Guard Auxiliary Paddlecraft Safety (AUXPAD) ashore and afloat missions.

Dates - October 18-20, 2025 with an optional arrival "Get To Know You" dinner the evening of October 17th.

For Auxiliarists travelling from outside the Miami area (more than 100 miles), Coast Guard Station Miami is providing free barraks lodging if desired. Please contact Natalie Bunting for barraks arrangements.

Two tracks available:

ACA L2 Kayaking Skills Training - For students new to the Auxiliary Paddlecraft (AUXPAD) program and want to learn and grow their skills to be effective Paddlecraft Operators in the program. No prior kayaking experience required.

Students must provide their own kayak. If you need one rental boats are available from the park's vendor for $235 for the entire event. Contact Chuck Hayes to arrange payment prior to the event.

Participants should have the stamina to spend 3 (2 ½?) days outside training on water and on shore.

ACA L2 Instructor Development Workshop - Students will develop effective teaching and outreach skills. Participants will be well prepared for future Instructor Certification opportunities and AUXPAD Qualifier qualification.

Prior kayaking experience required.
