About this Event
An international conference presented by the
Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs
in collaboration with the
Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation and George W. Bush Institute
Be part of the discussion as we examine the global challenges facing democracy in today’s world. Expert panels and guest speakers will explore the factors driving democratic backsliding, including diminishing public trust in democratic systems, growing economic inequality, social unrest, the rise of populism, the influence of great power rivalries, and the weakening of political institutions. We will take a closer look at two critical areas: the impact of AI on democracy and the phenomenon of elite capture. The conference will explore the global implications for democracy and consider ways to restore and strengthen democratic principles worldwide. What steps can we take to safeguard and fortify democracy moving forward?
The conference is free and open to the public
