Friday 5 June, 12pm–1pm: Restoring Manchester Town Hall with Martin Sykes, Senior Conservation Architect
The restoration of Manchester Town Hall is currently the largest ever UK heritage construction project and nearing completion. Martin Sykes gives an illuminating talk.
Friday 5 June, 1.15pm– 2.15pm: Growing Cities with Brian Groom, Journalist & Author
Brian Groom's latest book These Isles: A People’s History of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales (2026). Hear the man himself talk about the complex growth of towns and cities.
Friday 5 June, 2.30pm–3.30pm: Tales of Manchester's Musical History
Manchester Digital Music Archive, Strawberry Recording Studios Archive and Forget the Footnote share captivating stories about Manchester's musical heritage. From 3 incredible women Maria Malibran, Kathleen Moorhouse and Isobel Baillie through to 150 rare, restored digitised tape recordings to the cultural significance of the Hacienda and more.
Friday 5 June, 4.30pm–5.30pm: Down at the Club Revisited
Katie Milestone & Susan O’Shea, Music & Sonic Studies/School of Sociology & Criminology, MMU. Reflecting on Manchester’s nightclub histories from 1960s to 1980s. Featuring DJ Richard Searling and others.
Friday 5th June, 6pm–8pm: Champs Camp Film Premiere
The Champs Camp Archive Project and Northern Lights Film present a collaborative project showcasing how young people from Moss Side and Hulme responded to the story of Champs Camp through film. Followed by a Q&A with filmakers and former British light-heavyweight champion Maurice Coore.
