Have you ever watched someone making a sword on TV or in the movies and thought it was too cool for school? If so, this class is for you! Join us for a 6-hour class to make your own family sword! Students will learn about the beginning of metal work and examine artifacts tracing the evolution of metallurgy across several cultures. Then students will choose a wooden sword from several historical Bronze Age patterns and get their hands dirty making a sand cast of the wooden sword. Then the molds will be filled with 1,400 degree molten aluminum! While families take a lunch break, the swords will be ground smooth and prepared for handles; then students will wrap the handles in leather before taking them home.
Last time this class was offered it sold out quickly. Wear clothes that can get messy and closed toed shoes. Bring your lunch.
Cost is $115.00 per sword. Families can work together on one sword if they wish; register only one person if this is the case. Limited to 28 swords. Log in to register before 11:55 pm on Monday, October 21.
