2:00-3:00pm: Icon of Mexico: El son de la Negra with Manhatitlan

This class will break down the iconic Son de la Negra from the Mexican state of Jalisco. To the tune of Mariachi music, this dance is very fun and irresistibly joyful that will make you want to move. We will be showcasing the technique to skirt work that captivates peoples attention with the waves and circular shapes we're able to create.

About Manhatitlan: Manhatitlan aims to serve as a platform for preservation and advancement of Mexican, Mexican American and Immigrant narratives through dance, design and production. We place an emphasis on learning within an intergenerational and multilingual environment to form long lasting bonds and care within our community.

3:00 - 4:00pm: Ishkay Raymi with Jatary Sunchy Danza y Proyeccion Escenica

Ishkay Raymi makes a reference to a second party in which we are happy to participate. The san juanito is a traditional rhythm that is liked and loved in Kichwa villages, used to celebrate the foods that come from the Pachamama (earth).

About Jatary Sunchy Danza y Proyeccion Escenica: The Sunchy Project, which in its translation into Spanish means Force Project, began on November 14, 2012, with two young former dancers from the Ñucanchik Ayllu group who wanted to project, spread, promote, and innovate ancestral Ecuadorian culture in the traditional, popular, and scenic fields.
