See our beautiful restored 1911 Metz Plan Car!
o Engine: The 1911 Metz Plan car features a 2-cylinder, 12-horsepower, air-cooled engine.
o Transmission: Instead of a traditional transmission, it uses a friction drive. A drive wheel, actuated by a shift lever, moves inward or outward on a friction disc to change speed.
o Final Drive: The power is transmitted to the rear axle via double drive chains.
o Lubrication: The Metz uses a “pump-splash” lubrication system, where an oil pump pumps oil into dipper troughs for bearings and rods. The engine can run for a short time in splash mode while the pump refills the reservoirs.
o Other Features:
The car has a 48-inch track, which can be increased to 56 inches by reversing the wheels. The flywheel also acts as a fan for cooling the engine cylinders.
Meet a 10 year old who is restoring an Orient Buckboard,
and his mentor, George King – restorer & presenter of 1901 Orient.
