Synopsis:

Life passes by and there comes a moment when you wonder whether you`re in love with the person or in love with the feeling of love itself. How does one talk about separation? Do we even have the right words to describe something that can be both utterly mundane and completely transcendent pulling us out of our everyday lives and making us feel a part of something greater than ourselves? ‘Raindrops On My Window’ provides an intimate window into the great events and quotidian trifles of being within a couple giving you an indelible and deeply moving portrait of love in contemporary times. A simple play about love and loss; a couple`s contemplation — was it merely the loss of love or much more?

“Two loving souls living under the same roof suffer the loss of not only the novelty but the meaning of life as they go through the years of routine languishing in ever-increasing misery and loneliness looking for alternatives. It cannot be said that this midlife crisis is only an urban upper-middle-class reality but also a visceral phenomenon across societies of different kinds and its tragedy only becomes darker. Omkar Bhatkar’s play explores the purposelessness of life the boredom that overwhelms relationships and the basic human loneliness through flowing repetitive soliloquies. In a boring routine seemingly pointless moments can also act as a ticking time bomb. Indecisive milestones become an endless pattern. Through myriad micro-spaces ‘Raindrops on my window’ raises many fundamental questions about love and togetherness.”

Prasant Nalaskar

An avid theatre enthusiast. A lawyer by profession. He is an actor with a keen interest in portraying unconventional characters. He has always loved performing on stage and has been active in theatre for a long time. He enjoys every moment he gets to spend on stage be it performing rehearsing lights or stagecraft. 

Rekha Shetty

Rekha Shetty is an award-winning Media Professional and works as a Creative Director for various social enterprises agencies media houses and brands. Her Write-ups and poems are published in books. She loves art theatre adventure activities baking reading and food anthropology. 

Omkar Bhatkar

Playwright and Educationalist Omkar Bhatkar has a doctorate in Sociology. He is the Artistic Director of Metamorphosis Theatre and Films. He has been involved in Performance-making for more than a decade.
