Merle Law is a singer-songwriter based in Portland, OR. Initially working under the moniker Palm Sunday, Law has developed a sound that is at once acutely singular and distantly familiar. Merle Law’s approach, recording to tape on a cheap nylon string guitar with a spectral band, is steeped in the textures of the homes they’ve inhabited: from the sweaty, moss-draped bayou of Louisiana, the deep and foreboding greens and grays of the Pacific Northwest, and the broken roads in between that connect them.

Pivoting from the electronic stylings of his past, Portland-based songwriter and producer Karl Kling has embraced a more grounded and visceral sound. His latest work unveils a sunbaked, moody blend of psychedelia that weaves together elements of krautrock, shoegaze, folk, and pop nostalgia.

Galen Ballinger was recently informed that this is his last life on earth. It is his intention to overrun the boundaries separating art from music, acoustic from electric, and primeval past from hi-tech present. During his last life on earth he discovers sounds both foreign and familiar. He is influenced by real life.
