Merit Badge University @ Tennessee Tech University (MBU@TTU)
About this Event
Welcome to Merit Badge University @ Tennessee Tech University (MBU@TTU)!
Join us in person for a fun and educational day where Scouts can dive into earning merit badges, learn new skills, and make awesome memories. Whether you're a beginner or looking to add more badges to your sash, MBU@TTU is the place to be. Don't miss out on this exciting chance to connect, achieve and explore the Tennessee Tech campus!
General Information:
MBU participants must be at least in 8th grade. This is a Tennessee Tech requirement to comply with its Minors on Campus policy.
Lunch is included in the fee at the TTU Dining Facility. A patch is also included.
Registration must be completed by Troop, rather than on an individual basis. The exception is a lone Scout attending without a Troop. We welcome lone Scouts, but their parent or guardian must remain at the event and attend the Adult Scouter program.
Scouts should come in complete uniform. We will comply with each troop's regulations.
Scouts should "Be Prepared" when they arrive at Merit Badge University. Scouts will have read the pamphlet for their merit badge and completed all prerequisite requirements. If the prerequisites have not been completed in advance, the Scout will only receive a partial completion for the merit badge.
Some merit badges require travel to on-campus or off-campus locations; some require the Scout to get messy; and some require spending time outside. A prepared Scout will dress appropriately and/or bring work clothes.
Class registration is "first come, first served". Register early to help us prepare accordingly and to assure a spot in the merit badge class that your Scout desires. Each merit badge class has a size limit.
Some MB classes do not fill to a minimum size. If a class is canceled to lack of interest, the Scoutmaster will be notified so another MB class can be chosen.
ALL ADULTS who are attending MUST register for the "Adult Scouter" program (this can be found in the list of Merit Badges - see the "tickets" on the website). At least one leader from your troop must be in the Adult Scouter program at all times; this is in case of an emergency with one of your scouts. The $25.00 fee covers lunch and patches for the adults.
The registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. At the last moment, you may send another Scout and the MBU@TTU Registrar will provide MB Class options to attend. The Scout must be in at least the 8th grade and have all required forms completed. Please contact our Registrar, Kris Craven at [email protected] as soon as you can regarding a last minute change.
Payments can be made through the website or by check.
Required Forms: After you complete the registration process, you must send your troop's payment and a signed liability and photo-release form for each scout that has been registered.
