MERENGUE Turns. Course for Absolute Beginners. 12/22

Merengue is a fun, easy, and versatile dance that comes from the Dominican Republic. This dance is a gateway to learning other forms of Latin dancing. It's easy 1 - 2, 1 - 2 stepping allows the student to concentrate mainly on leading / following different turns, pretzels, and combinations that can later be translated into Salsa, Cumbia, and Bachata. If you never danced Latin Dance before, we highly recommend starting with Merengue. It will give you hip movements, fun combinations, and sizzling turns. No dance partner or experience needed. Save your spot in advance.

COURSE MATERIAL

Duration of this monthly workshop is 1.5 hours. We will cover:

Foundations
- Step and weight change drills
- Open and Close Frame connections
- Basic Step variations
- Body Movement drills

Turns
- Right and Left Turns - Pulls
- Lock Turns
- Inside and Outside Turns
- Sweetheart wraps

Pretzels - Hammerlock set up - Hammerlock tunnel - Hammerlock walk-around - Sweetheart tunnel - Arm techniques - Combs and Brushes

WHO CAN JOIN?
Couples, singles, newbies and curious welcome. Start your journey to becoming a fantastic social dancer. After you complete the course, you will have lots of fun at our parties, group lessons, and fun dance events!

WHAT TO WEAR
Casual to dressy. Wear something comfortable. Dress shoes with leather sole for men are best. Low heel and flats for ladies are best. Tennis shoes and sandals are not recommended.

IT'S LOTS OF FUN!
You can come alone or with friends, it’s a welcoming atmosphere. We will rotate during class so you can meet other and make friends. Limited spots - up to 30 students: 15 guys and 15 ladies accepted.
