ABOUT THIS SHOW
Folksingers Meredith Moon (Ontario) and Creekbed Carter (MN) join together for a special evening, sharing both of their unique stories in song.
MEREDITH MOON
Meredith Moon has been described as a ‘gem’ in both the old-time and contemporary folk music scenes for her unusual expression of the genres, combining influences of folk-punk with traditional Appalachian sounds. Moon started writing songs at the age of eight, and became a self-taught guitar player at the age of fourteen. A few years later she found her sound as a busker on sidewalks from Halifax to Vancouver. She then spent years traveling across Canada, and the world, by means of road and rail, finding inspiration for her unique style of songs which are crafted in a true storyteller’s fashion.
Moon's third album, "From Here to the Sea", produced by Colin Linden and featuring Jerry Douglas, Julian Taylor, Rebecca Lovell (Larkin Poe), George Receli (Bob Dylan), Lilli Mae Rische & Dominic Davis (Jack White), among others, out September 12th 2025 on Compass Records, features 10 original songs and blends folk, folk-rock, blues and oldtime jazz.
Creekbed Carter Hogan
For trans folksinger Creekbed Carter Hogan, everything good is made from the rotten stump of something else. It’s a theme they’ve become familiar with as they’ve made a life weaving stories of growing up religious around songs that pierce the soul, tickle the funny bone, and showcase a unique blend of self-taught folk picking and queer mayhem. Clever, hopeful, bald, and true, Creekbed Carter is, above all, an act of resilience: a flaming sword that both creator and listener can use to cut their way out and get forward, together.
