🌱 Celebrate the Expansion of Mercy Gardens! 🌱Since 2015, Mercy Gardens has been providing fresh produce and job training through our urban gardening program. Thanks to a partnership with the City of Decatur, USDA, and Chicago Region Food Systems, we’re now growing on a 5-acre plot in the Old King’s Orchard neighborhood—a big step forward for our community!
The produce grown helps feed neighbors through Good Samaritan Inn’s Noon Meal, supports local food pantries, and is sold through local business partnerships and at Mercy Market to help support our program.
📅 Event Schedule — Wednesday, September 17
3:00 PM | Kick off at Good Samaritan Inn with hors d'oeuvres featuring our fresh produce + a short program on the impact of Mercy Gardens
3:45 PM | Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the expansion site (just a 5-minute walk away)
Afterwards | Guided tour of the new site and our other garden spaces with Programs Manager, Ben
