Please join us out in the community for Menlo Park’s 6th Annual Mental Health Open Mic Night!
May is Mental Health Month, and this year’s theme is Heal Through Connection. Join our guest emcees from SafeSpace, as we bring our voices together to increase awareness and inspire action to reduce stigma against those with mental health conditions.
Whether in sharing experience, music, storytelling, readings, or poetry, join us in a safe space where you can share your own words, or listen to those of others.
About SafeSpace:
SafeSpace is a local youth-led, mental health-focused organization that empowers young people to engage openly with their local schools and communities. The group creates and implements initiatives to change the conversation around mental health by educating and encouraging peers to speak up, support others, and seek help when needed.
About Mental Health Month:
Each year, Menlo Park Partners with San Mateo County Health’s Office of Diversity and Equity to observe Mental Health Month, supporting awareness and action to reduce stigma against those with mental health and substance use conditions. The theme for 2024 May Mental Health Month is Heal Through Connection: #SMCAgainstLoneliness.
Throughout the month of May, Menlo Park presents free events offering information, support, and opportunities for reflection and self-care:
May 1: Hawaiian Music with Faith Ako
May 7: Author Cara Bean - Here I Am, I Am Me: An Illustrated Guide to Mental Health
May 9: Mental Health Open Mic
May 13: Meditative Banig Drawing Workshop
May 28: Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors
