About this Event
Mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance use disorders are shockingly common in the US. Unlike physical conditions, mental health challenges can be difficult to detect, so therefore, those in need of mental health services often don’t get them until it is too late. Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare is providing a FREE Youth Mental Health First Aid course to prepare our communities with the knowledge and skills to help individuals who are developing mental health problems or are experiencing a mental health crisis. Mental health first aiders learn a 5-step action plan that guides them through the process of reaching out, offering appropriate support and connecting individuals with helpful resources when necessary. The Youth Mental Health First Aid course is designed to teach adults how to assist a youth who may be experiencing a mental health problem or crises. In the virtual format, participants must complete approximately 2 hours of pre-work before the virtual session on the training date.
