DeShanee Thomas is currently a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern(MFT-I) at a local community health setting. She has worked in the mental health world for 10+ years. She has worked with individuals from 6 years to 95 years old. She believes everyone has a story that shapes who they are and it's influenced by the people, experiences and things around them. She enjoys working with individuals, families, couples and the consensual non-monogamous. Her specializations include Narrative therapy, CBT, Emotionally Focused therapy, Non traditional family structures, LGBTQIA+ lifestyles, Sexual health, IDD, Addiction and End of life. She believes that everyone could benefit from therapy and having someone to talk to, even for a short amount of time. She is an advocate of therapy being about more than just laying on a couch and “telling your business”, but learning what therapy is and how it will work in someone's life.
When not studying or working, DeShanee enjoys the arts (painting, theater, music, writing), collecting vintage clothing/jewelry, crossfit and watching rugby.
For the Future, she plans on obtaining Licensure, continuing in community mental health in order to remain accessible.
