Mental Health Board Training Academy
About this Event
Communities rely on Township Mental Health Boards to fund, oversee, and evaluate services that support individuals with mental health conditions, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. Whether newly appointed or experienced, board members benefit from a strong understanding of the legal, operational, and oversight responsibilities associated with serving on a 708 Board. This practical “Mental Health Board Training Academy” will provide board members, administrators, and township officials with a comprehensive overview of the core responsibilities of a 708 Board. Topics will include statutory authority and governance, Open Meetings Act and public records compliance, contracting for services, financial oversight, performance measurement, accountability mechanisms, and navigating the relationship between the Mental Health Board and the township board. Through a practical, real-world approach, participants will gain the knowledge and tools necessary to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities, strengthen oversight, and ensure public resources are used effectively to meet the needs of their communities.
Registration begins at 8:30 AM with a light breakfast. The training begins at 9:00 AM. This takes place in the Activities Room at Hanover Township's Senior Center.
