About this Event

Mental Health Awareness for Sport and Physical Activity training with Solent Mind

We believe sport and physical activity builds resilience, enables and supports mental health recovery, tackles stigma and can be accessible for everyone.

This 2.5 hour workshop is designed to give coaches, volunteers, sport administrators and front-of-house staff the confidence to support people with experience of mental health problems to be more active.

This practical workshop will help you:

  • Understand some fundamental aspects of mental health and wellbeing.
  • Feel more confident to talk about mental health and know where to signpost people to if they need support.
  • Appreciate the impact of stigma on mental health.
  • Be aware of the positive impact of physical activity on physical and mental health.
  • Appreciate the barriers that people living with mental health problems can experience when taking up a sport or physical activity.
  • Identify practical actions that you can take to create a positive sporting environment that is more inclusive and accessible to people with mental health problems.
